What a Human Design Projector Invitation Looks Like
Who knew that heading to my endodontist would change my life.
Sora Schilling, Director. I saw that listed on a document and my heart leaped with excitement and joy. I am officially on the Board of Directors for an incredible organization here in Raleigh that cultivates community through arts, dance, and education, with a focus on diversity, collaboration, and inclusivity. I am a former elementary school teacher and a lover of dance, and my deepest desire is to keep supporting my local community. I was invited to apply for this dream position while heading to a root canal appointment a little over a month ago.
What a Human Design Projector invitation looks like
Do you ever wonder if magical technology like Human Design is something we attach meaning to, and not something real? Then I remember that these traditional mystical blueprints have been approached with such reverence for so long, and that the teachings which came through the land have held up as scientific fact. There is something incredible in the makeup of the Universe, and we are gifted with the chance to engage in the unknown.
Well, as a Projector, when I love my life and give myself to learning new things and stay open to invitations, they sure do come to me in unexpected ways.
My dear friend Liz was driving me to my root canal appointment and asked if I would be interested in being on the board. She encouraged me to apply, and more than anything, I was so grateful that she thought I had something to contribute. That I would make a wonderful contribution by having a seat at the table.
Why I never second guessed the invitation
Here is the interesting thing. There was never a moment when I second guessed myself. I did not go into "who am I, what do I have to offer, I am intimidated by who may be on the board." Nope. Instead my mind started to feel the hunger of learning new roles, seeing behind the scenes as to what a board of directors does and how they support the incredible folks at the organization. I was curious about how the preschool, the arts program, the dance program, and the dance company were run. I was eager to enter the world of fundraising, event planning, and budgeting for one to five years. I was eager to learn and ask all the questions as the newbie, while also bringing my own medicine as an outsider who has fresh eyes and a curious heart.
Ever since Eric sat on a board himself in Asheville, I have told him my secret wish. One day I would get to sit on a board, or many, for organizations that aligned with my values, and help carry their mission forward.
This dream is currently being filled, and it is because Liz had a niggle to reach out to me. She saw me and invited me to join.
The part of me I closed away when I left corporate
This past week I went through spreadsheets and meeting notes, and I got dressed. Yes, not shorts and a tee shirt but dressed, and headed to my very first meeting, and damn it felt good to return to a part of me that I closed away when I left corporate. She is back and she is loving every minute of this position.
I am getting ready to add my new job to my LinkedIn profile and it feels so official.
A Projector invitation often hands back a buried skill
I share this because quite often your business takes these dips, turns, and hills. My business has never been "easy" but it has been rewarding. As I continue to be an energy coach and sacred business strategist to my clients, and keep my arms open for you to join me, my creativity and medicine still desires to be expressed, stretched, and honed, and these other opportunities do that. I've got an incredible brain, and to be able to use it in a way that is outside of our coaching and spiritual community only helps me continue to see outside the box, finetune my skills, and be an asset for you as a coach.
I am curious if you are following breadcrumbs and realizing you have returned to a part of you that you thought you laid to rest in your past career. What is something that you miss? How can the world outside of our wonderful, spiritual community still be an access point for you that helps you build that bridge?
Often there are skills that you have buried in the past, not desiring to revisit your previous work situation, and it is this very skill that could very well enhance your offer.
I wrote a little about this board seat a few weeks ago, in the middle of a season where a launch did not work and the breadcrumbs did. That one is here: Spilled Tea Isn't the End of the World.
I had dinner with my in-laws yesterday at a wonderful Italian place. I shared the news with my mother-in-law and told her why I believe this is going to be such a chapter of growth, and she lit up. My mother-in-law has this way about herself that makes you feel like the 100% badass that you are. She nodded and beamed with delight, and she shared how she sees this position as one that I will learn from and one that I will contribute to in wonderful ways. She is quite the cheerleader, and she helps me continue to see that radiant light that beams from my soul when I am lit up and in my full on, divine Projector self. I am so grateful for her presence in my life.
