When Coaching Feels Easy, It Is Not a Sign You Are Lost

It got easy, so I thought I was lost.

A Luminary came onto our call this week and told me she had just had the easiest week of client work she has ever had.

When coaching feels easy, this is almost always where the mind goes first, straight to the question of what must be broken.

She shared she was not energy coaching, channeling, or using any of her other modalities she was trained in. It was an impactful session, and her clients received so much from the experience.

My client felt confused. She thought she may be feeling lost as she processed on the call, unsure of what she was feeling or even what she needed from our time together.

Her mind went to whether her offers were wrong, whether the modalities she was trained in should still be part of her offer, and she loved them all so where did that leave her? Her concern was that this was a sign her business needed a recalibration or a restructuring.

As she shared all of this aloud, in a beautifully unpolished way, it brought to light some powerful discoveries that we were able to speak about. Why? Because when you verbally process in front of a group and get to the messy middle, there are gems that are ready to be picked. These are the coaching sessions I LIVE for.

I believe in through lines. I believe that there is always a through line in your work, in your business, and that doesn't waver because it is part of your values and your medicine.

From this lens, when she shared that her coaching and holding space felt "easy" and she didn't know how she felt knowing she didn't have to "do much," to me that means she is aware of key points in her business.

Firstly, there is an outward facing aspect of business, yes? This is about your messaging, your medicine, your body of work, how to market yourself and your offers, what strategies you are implementing to gather new people into your world.

That is outward facing and understanding what feels easeful for you and how you hold space that creates your quality or flavor of transformation is key to sharing that outwardly.

So, I invited her to get granular around what actually happened on the call. Why was it magical, and even if she didn't use a modality in a structured way, how were the modalities, her intuition, her space holding abilities, and her coaching creating a type of space holding that only she could have co-created with her clients. What specifically are her clients looking for and why that matters in the creation of results.

She came to answers to these questions that helped her understand her ideal clients so much better and she is still actively walking with these questions.

The second part is the inward facing side, the part no one sees. It is an invitation to pause and recognize her commitment to her craft as a space holder. My client has been coaching, revising her offers, and learning to stretch her space holding muscles, often in ways that feel uncomfortable but with a humble beginner's mind, she dives right into it.

I find that coaches who do not focus solely on revenue or outward definitions of success, and who make fine-tuning their craft a priority even if it means lower cost offers, beta testing, doing an exchange, taking on pro-bono clients, will see their business and income grow because they know what they are doing.

They see how practicing begins to help them understand their particular way of holding a person and undoubtedly this helps with messaging, clarifying their offers, and building their confidence.

What she is experiencing with the confusion is this moment in the vortex when you are crossing the threshold into another level of mastery.

What felt confusing, hard, with a lingering of self doubt and a need for some control over the sessions and the outcome of your clients are no longer there. This is also what she may have been feeling and therefore I invited her to digest this potential shift that is happening within herself.

This will not be every session

Now, I share that this won't be the case in every session. Your client will still come to you with resistance, a wall, blindspots, triggers. You'll have sessions where it feels like you are both on different radio channels and the communication is misfiring in all directions.

This keeps you on your toes and helps you to continue to grow. The part of these sessions I ask you to be aware of is how you react, what do you tell yourself, are you feeling the pressure or do you feel at ease with the discomfort of a session not being so clean? That is the progress you are looking for.

Using your modalities without using them

I shared with my client that during this entire session I was still using my life coaching, business strategist, energy coaching, space holding tools and skillsets. I shared that the modalities were not apart from me and not an instruction manual, but woven into how I hold space.

Therefore, rather than it feeling like a protocol, it is my way of holding space. I do still go to protocol when it seems my clients are in need of a particular role within me.

Could I have gone into an energy space with her? Yes, and it was not the moment for it, and it was not what she asked me for. She asked me to listen and tell her what I saw.

That is me still using my modalities and my medicine. It is just not in a formulaic way, and that is what you are sometimes being asked to let go of. And it can feel scary and it can feel liberating as well.

I will say the other half of it, because I believe it matters. If I were going to energy coach her, I would do it in a much more systematized way, for her safety and mine and everyone else's in the container. So this is not me telling you to let loose all the time.

Consistency matters, even when no one seems to be watching

I am in the camp that consistency matters. When you are clear around your messaging and your offers, rather, the ecosystem that you have cultivated for your clients and your potential clients, you are noticed.

I know it feels like no one is watching, reading, engaging, and you focus on all the stats and see nothing has changed. But a month, two months, three months from now someone will enter in because they have been watching and waiting for a time that aligns with them.

At this point it isn't about you, it is about patiently extending your hand and waiting for your clients to feel the niggle to say yes.

This is what happened with a new booking. My client took her readings off her site, and due to her consistent YouTube channel and emails, a woman in her community booked in a reading. Something she wasn't even selling but she is seeing how her intentional communication months ago is bringing in a new client now.

Let's stop thinking of only immediate money coming in the door and consider the relationships we are building now that may help a dear soul in the future.

Where exactly are you lost

When you tell me you feel lost, I am going to ask you where. Lost is rarely everywhere, and once you find the edge of it the whole thing gets smaller.

Lost in the room with your client is one thing, and I did not think that was where she was. Lost in saying it outwardly is another. Lost in gathering the people is another still. And lost in trusting that it is allowed to be this easy is its own thing entirely.

Name the one that is actually yours. That is the thing to work on next, and it is usually not the offer.

This is one way through it. Another is to change nothing at all, keep delivering exactly as you are, and let your offers catch up to you on their own time. Both work. I only ask that you choose one on purpose.
